University Welcomes Back Retired Staff
On Tuesday 14th June, following a 2-year break, Gdynia Maritime University once again hosted retired staff on the main campus on Morska Street. More than 100 past employees of the University attended a meeting with HM Rector Professor Adam Weintrit, Deputy Rector for Scientific Research Dr Dariusz Barbucha, the Head of the Personnel and Payroll Department Ewa Zdanowicz, Chair of the GMU Staff Trade Union Dr Jacek Hałaczkiewicz, Chair of NSZZ Solidarność Marek Lubowiecki and Head of Promotion and Communication Bartosz Tobieński.
During the meeting, HM Rector of GMU spoke of the current state of affairs at the University as well as its plans and activities for the near future.
Each former employee of the University received “Dar Młodzieży” puzzle in commemoration of the 40th anniversary of the raising of the flag on the white frigate, a copy of the most recent Maritime University Courier and a book of sea shanty songs compiled by the Rector, who added a written dedication for those interested.
The event provided an opportunity to reminisce on times spent at the University and speak to current members of staff.
