First Students Graduate from the PGDip in "Risk Management in the Offshore Extraction and Offshore Industry

On Saturday 11th February 2023, the graduation ceremony for the first edition of the postgraduate diploma "Risk Management in the Offshore Extraction and Offshore Industry" took place at Gdynia Maritime University. Graduating from the programme were 25 students - the first to complete this new course of study, which is attracting ever greater interest from candidates. Carried out at the Faculty of Navigation, the postgraduate diploma course consists of 190 hours of classes, including lectures, practicals, and laboratory sessions. The course's principal partner is PGE Baltica.

The graduation ceremony was opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Navigation, Dr Tomasz Neumann. A letter was then read from the Deputy President of Development at PGE Baltica, Dariusz Lociński.

Naturally, also in attendance at the ceremony were the course's lecturers. Among them were Sławomir Bałdyga - Director of the Industrial Supervision Department of the Polish Registry of Shipping, and a Member of the Maritime Wind Energy Coordination Council, Łukasz Sikorski - Director for the European market at Offshore Wind Consultants OWC and global offshore wind energy consultant, Jakub Budzyński - Vice President of the Management Board of the Polish Offshore Wind Energy Society and Supply Chain & Stakeholder Manager at the Simply Blue Group, and Robert Grzegorowski - Senior Project Manager of RWE Renewables and a Member of the Coordinating Council for the offshore wind energy industry. Their speeches highlighted the importance of the education of future personnel for the offshore wind energy industry.

Thanking the lecturers for their support and trust, the head of postgraduate studies, Agnieszka Blokus-Dziula, presented them with symbolic gifts against the background of photos taken during the past academic year. In addition to academic teachers from GMU, among the lecturers of this year's programme were representatives from GrECo Polska, INSIGHT Joanna Rybicka-Gornowicz, Kancelarii Kacprzak Radcy Prawni, Marine Survey Service, Noble Drilling Corporation, Offshore Wind Consultants OWC, OW Ocean Winds, PGE Baltica, PM Experts, the Polish Register of Shipping S.A., Polish Maritime Wind Energy Society, RWE Renewables, Seaway 7, Siemens Games, Simply Blue Group, Vestas, and Vulcan Training & Consultancy.

The summary presented by Agnieszka Blokus-Dziula also included the results of feedback surveys conducted among the participants of the first edition of the PGDip. As was stressed by the head of the programme, the course was highly assessed by the graduates, including in relation to improving their own competencies and skills, and the likelihood of using the knowledge gained in their careers. 

The ceremony was also attended by graduate representatives Patryk Juszkiewicz and Konrad Wróbel, who will be involved in teaching the programme next year. As a warm gesture of thanks, the graduates presented Agnieszka Blokus-Dziula with a bouquet before posing for a joint photo of all those present. The presentation of diplomas was followed by a joint toast in honour of the course's Graduates. Congratulations to you all - we wish you further success in the future!
