GMU Takes Part in IAMU Research Projects Webinar
Tuesday 29th March 2022 saw GMU representatives take part in a Webinar organised by the IAMU workgroup for research affairs and the IAMU secretariat in Tokyo. The meeting aimed to present information on the IAMU system for research projects as well as to provide guidance for the successful submission of research proposals.
The webinar was opened by Rector Professor Adam Weintrit, who is the Head of the IAMU Academic Affairs Committee and moderated by the Rector’s plenipotentiary for IAMU affairs and head of the workgroup, Dr Adam Przybyłowski.
The first part of the meeting was dedicated to details concerning the submission of proposals for 2023, in which Christian Mathews of Liverpool John Moores University presented information on the topics, assessment criteria, and application process. The second part of the meeting was led by Professor Ian Jenkinson, also of Liverpool John Moores, who provided advice on writing a successful research project proposal in line with IAMU requirements. This was followed by a discussion session where webinar participants had the opportunity to ask questions and get answers on the details of the application process, as well as to network to find partners for future projects.
At the close of the webinar, HM Rector Professor Adam Weintrit encouraged the webinar participants to actively engage in creating inter-university consortia with other universities and maritime faculties affiliated with IAMU. More information on the IAMU research projects system can be found on the association's official website.
