GMU Technology Transfer Office Wins Innovation 2023 Award at Polish Enterprise Congress

The 10th Polish Entrepreneurship Congress (Polski Kongres Przedsiębiorczości) took place in Krakow on 13th-14.11.2023. The event was organised by the Polish Agency for Enterprise. The GMU Technology Transfer Office was represented at the event by Office Director Magdalena Kukowska-Kaszuba and innovation brokers Beata Wetoszka and Anna Żuławska.

The Polish Congress of Entrepreneurship is a Polish-European forum for the exchange of knowledge and experience, within which a group of experts from various areas of social and economic life. The 10th congress was attended by 40,000 online participants who had the chance to discuss the most important issues in Poland, Europe and the world, and present their ideas for support for entrepreneurs, scientific communities and local governments.

The Polish Entrepreneurship Congress is an economic event. Its beginning dates back to 2013, when the first edition was held in Katowice. Since then, the event has been permanently included in the calendar of meetings of those involved in science, business, local government, parliamentarians, and representatives of government administration. From the beginning of this idea, the event has been organised by the Polish Agency for Enterprise based in Katowice, whose mission is to support national business.

The scope of the project was divided into approximately 20 thematic panels, including:

  • Patent protection and economic development - key issues and prospects
  • Industry 4.0
  • There is no future without modernity.
  • During the last of these panels, topics of particular importance to the University were raised:
  • University support - transfer of knowledge and technology within academic environments
  • Science and business - at the interface between education and entrepreneurship
  • Cooperation of Technology Transfer Centres with the social and economic environment
  • Training opportunities for company development - investment in employees
  • Universities of the Future - ways to attract students
  • Well-educated graduates make better employees.

At its exhibition stand at the Congress, the Intellectual Property and Commercialisation of Research Team presented the research solutions offered by GMU as well as solutions developed as part of pre-implementation work carried out under the "Innovation Incubator 4.0" programme:

  • "HurtHub" - Faculty of Navigation
  • "Development of technology for the production of a new liner composite using a rubber recyclate" - Faculty of Marine Engineering
  • "A new composite material based on carbonisates" - Faculty of Marine Engineering

Participation in the Congress was an opportunity to open talks with representatives of companies, start-ups, investment funds, and other Technology Transfer Centres in the events networking area and to present offers of cooperation in relation to technology and R&D services for industry.
