University Awarded New Patent

The Polish Patent Office has granted exclusive rights to GMU for a new invention entitled "Method of control of the adaptive process of water vapour cooling in a condenser".The Patent Office issued patent certificate no 243204 on 21 July 2023. The inventor of the solution is Dr Krzysztof Łukaszewski of the Department of Fundamentals of Technology in the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering.

The object of the invention is a method for controlling the adaptive process of water vapour cooling in a condenser by controlling the flow of cooling water, where depending on the time variable steam turbine load, the temperature of the cooling water when entering the condenser, the degree of contamination of the condenser pipes and the potential presence of air in the water, the condensation pressure of the water vapour in the condenser is determined in relation to the coefficient of heat transfer, and then the measured condensation pressure of the water vapour in the condenser is maintained by regulating the surface of the heat exchange and the flow rate of the cooling water.

The solution is designed for use in electricity generation systems, including in combination with a condensation steam turbine. The invention falls within the scope of the technological services offered by the University.

Congratulations on your success!
