Conference of Deputy Rectors for Education and Student Affairs of Polish Technical Universities
This year’s Conference for Deputy Rectors for Education and Student Affairs of Polish Technical Universities was held on 11-13 January at the Maritime University in Szczecin. Taking part in the event were the rectors and deputy rectors of many Polish universities. GMU was represented by the Deputy Rector for Education, Dr Sambor Guze.
At the planned sessions, discussion panels, and more, participants discussed the current state of higher education and the challenges that lie ahead in relation to teaching and student affairs. During his panel, the Deputy Rector for Education at Gdynia Maritime University, Dr Sambor Guze, focused on the issues connected with teaching the exact sciences as part of technical degree programmes.
The session of the Education Committee of the Conference of Rectors of Polish Technical Universities looked at topics including the competencies of the future, education in the face of the digital transformation, the future of 2nd-cycle (master’s) degrees, and the requirements of employers and micro-certificates.
In addition to the sessions and discussion panels, the three-day event included visits to the Szczecin Maritime University laboratories, a rescue demonstration at the Offshore Training Centre, a performance of the Maritime University’s Choir, and a tour of the Navigator XXI ship.
