Faculty Launches Project: "Progress - Academic and Research Development in Management and Quality Science at Gdynia Maritime University”
The Faculty of Management and Quality Science at Gdynia Maritime University has launched a project entitled "Academic and Research Development in Management and Quality Science at Gdynia Maritime University" financed by the Minister of Science as part of the "Regional Excellence Initiative". The project will be carried out between 1st January 2024 and 31st December 2027, with total funding amounting to PLN 1,551,000. The author and head of the project is Dr Joanna Kizielewicz, Deputy Dean for Development and Cooperation at the Faculty of Management Quality Science.
The project aims to increase recognition of Gdynia Maritime University in Poland and abroad as a centre with high scientific and research potential in management and quality science by improving the quality of scientific research carried out by staff at the Faculty. Achievement of these aims will be possible thanks to comprehensive support in the form of training and scientific seminars developing the knowledge and competencies of research and teaching staff and doctoral candidates, their participation in international research internships, national and international scientific conferences, the organisation of competitions for research microgrants and access to scientific databases and specialist reports and consultancy in data analysis.
The activities carried out within the framework of the project are aimed at various groups of research and teaching staff employed at the Faculty of Management and Quality Science, as well as doctoral candidates. Assistant carrying out scientific research as part of doctoral dissertations, doctoral candidates in management and quality Science, assistant professors conducting scientific research as part of a postdoctorate in management and quality science as well as those already qualified at postdoctorate level and full professors.
The assumptions of the project are in accordance with the guidelines of the HR Excellence in Research award, proudly held by GMU, (European Charter for Researchers, EC, Brussels, 2006) and are part of Objective II of the strategy of Gdynia Maritime University for the years 2020-2024 in relation to scientific research, development work and the transfer of knowledge and technology. The project is consistent with the specific objectives of the GMU Strategy, which relate to the development of scientific potential and the improvement of the quality of scientific research activity and cooperation with national and foreign universities and scientific research institutes, as well as industry in the commercialisation of research results (Objective 1, Section 1). The outcomes of the project should also have a positive impact on the results of the future evaluation of the quality of scientific activity in management and quality science. Work is currently underway on the preparation of regulations for the allocation of funds to staff for development and scientific activity.
