GMU Technology Transfer Office Attends 16th Academic Technology Transfer Centres Agreement Conference

On 21 and 22 November 2024, the Director of the GMU Technology Transfer Office, Dr Magdalena Kukowska-Kaszuba, and Innovation Broker Marlena Żur-Lewandowska represented the University at the 16th Academic Technology Transfer Centres Agreement (PACTT) Conference, an industry event dedicated to technology transfer centres at higher education institutions. The periodic event aims to strengthen cooperation between academic technology transfer units in commercialisation, good practices, and the exchange of experience. The conference also provides an opportunity to make contacts with businesses and discover expectations within the business environment.

The following topics were raised as part of discussion panels held at the conference:

  • encouraging inventors to get involved in commercialisation,
  • technology transfer in R&D projects financed by public sources,
  • the journey of an innovator - from idea to market,
  • SnT - a case study on organisation and models for cooperation of research with the environment,
  • the role of technology transfer in the development of international partnerships in innovation,
  • regional lab-net network - cooperation between science, business, and local governments.

Also attending the conference were Mariusz Frankowski, Marshall of Mazowsze, Michał Doligalski, Director of the Department of Innovation, and M. Zgagacz Senior Director, Venture Partners at CU Boulder.

The final day of the conference also saw internal sessions, including an activity report for the PACTT Coordination Council and Foundation and the election of the new Coordination Council. 

The regional partner for this year’s PACTT conference was the Technology and Knowledge Transfer Centre at Warsaw University. Honorary patronage was provided by the Minister of Science, the President of the Republic of Poland Patent Office, the Chair of the Conference of Rectors of Academic Schools (KRASP), and the Rector of Warsaw University. The conference’s partners were the World Intellectual Property Organization – WIPO, and the SWPS Knowledge Transfer Centre.
