On 27 May 2024, a meeting took place between the Minister of Science and Education, Dariusz Wieczorek, and the Rectors of higher education institutions in Pomerania at the main library building at Gdańsk University. Also taking part in the meeting were the Pomeranian Marshall, Beata Rutkiewicz, and from the local authorities, the Director of the Department of Economic Development, Stanisław Szultka.

From Gdynia Maritime University, the meeting was attended by HM The Rector, Professor Adam Weintrit. During the event at the University of Gdańsk, the Minister raised issues related to the financing of future investments planned by the academic centres, encouraging their authorities to also focus on the repair and construction work of student residences. He also discussed the increase in spending on the development of scientific research and the attainment of European funds for these purposes. The Minister expressed his support for all activities, increasing the presence of the country's universities on the international market, as well as encouraging cooperation among the University's representatives as well as consolidation.

The meeting at Gdańsk University was of a working nature and took place as one of a series of meetings with authorities in higher education, and doctoral candidates and students in connection with consultations on changes in the Higher Education Act and the discussion of current matters such as scientific activity, academic affairs and current challenges.
