University Authorities Take Part in Celebrations for 50th Anniversary of International Relations Between Poland and the Philippines

On 12 June 2024, the Rector of Gdynia Maritime University, Professor Adam Weintrit, and Deputy Rector for Science, Dr Dariusz Barbucha, took part in celebrations of the 50th anniversary of international relations between Poland and the Philippines and the 126th anniversary of independence of the Republic of Philippines in Warsaw.

The Rector and Deputy Rector were invited to attend the celebrations by the Ambassador of the Republic of Philippines, Leah M. Basinang-Ruiz. The University authorities gave their best wishes to the Ambassador on the occasion of the national celebration of the Republic of the Philippines and also passed on a special gift.

As noted during the celebrations, the invitation to participate in the celebrations can be seen as an expression of the intent of the Embassy of the Philippines to maintain good relations with GMU, and the increasing interest of the Republic of the Philippines to expand its contacts and in extensive cooperation between the country and Gdynia Maritime University. This was highlighted very clearly during the meeting, during which the plans for talks on more precisely defined areas of cooperation, from the education of students and doctoral candidates to joint research initiatives, were set for the coming months.

During the event, HM The Rector of GMU invited the Ambassador to attend the ceremonial inauguration of the academic year 2024.
