Unmanned Units and Passive Monitoring Systems the Topic of a Seminar at Faculty of Navigation

On 22 October 2024, a seminar was held at the GMU Faculty of Navigation to present the results of research and implementations by Gdynia Maritime University and the SR Robotics company in the areas of dual-purpose systems.

As part of a session dedicated to the safety of maritime operations, a reliability model for rescue/maritime operations was presented, considering the safety of a ship when carrying out its tasks and the use of underwater vehicles in Search and Rescue (SAR) operations.

The second session presented the results of work to date on the use of artificial intelligence in the identification and classification of underwater facilities and the possibility of using underwater drones in the protection of marine areas and critical infrastructure.

The concept of unmanned units with a Small Waterplane Area Twin Hull, including a remotely operated submarine with underwater inspection capabilities, was presented. Following the completion of the tests in the test pool, the model will be used in the training of operators of autonomous vehicles carried out by Gdynia Maritime University. The opportunity to familiarise individuals with modern solutions and autonomous marine vehicles will allow them to adapt their knowledge and skills to future market needs.
