Young Inventor Wins Rector's Award
On 23-25 October 2024, the 24th Gdynia Explory Week came to an end with a closing gala. HM The Rector of Gdynia Maritime University awarded a special award to the creator of Gate OS – a safe exokernel based on preventive static code analysis.
The winner, Franciszek Łopuszański of the E. Dembowski Lyceum no. 1 in Gliwice, was presented with a Rector's Special Award. His project tested a new approach to safety based on forced app action. Following successful testing, the tool could help to determine whether a given program breaches the policy of a system before it is run.
A symbolic cheque was presented to the young inventor by the Deputy Rector for Science, Professor Dariusz Barbucha.
Professor Damian Bisewski of the Department of Maritime Electronics at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering represented the University on the competition panel.
Explory is the country's largest research and development programme for young talents. The competition is an opportunity for young people to showcase their innovative ideas to the world. During Gdynia Explory Week, young people from all over Poland were given the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the education on offer at Gdynia Maritime University.
