Faculty of Navigation Holds First-Ever 'Navigator's Day’

On 27 May 2025, the first Navigator's Day, organised by the Faculty of Navigation at Gdynia Maritime University, took place at Gdynia Maritime University. Those attending the event took part in specially organised job fairs, as well as sports and recreational competitions on Gdynia Beach, before gathering back at the Faculty for an afternoon of integration.

Navigator's Day was opened by Dr Sambor Guze, Deputy Rector for Education and Student Affairs, and Dr Tomasz Neumann, Dean of the Faculty of Navigation. Participants were then invited to take part in the jobs fairs – an excellent opportunity to talk to representatives of the maritime sector and logistics companies offering students opportunities for professional development, and work placements and internships. The companies taking part in the job fairs were: Amber Offshore, Polaris, Chipolbrok, Dohle Marine Services, Stodig Ship Management, Ceva Logistics, Ligentia, ONE, Welcome Airport Service, Kuehne Nagel, Northgate Logistic, PZU, Academy Maritime Services, Columbia Group, Star Clippers, the Maritime Division of the Polish Border Guard, and the GMU Sailing Centre.

On the afternoon of the event, the focus shifted from career opportunities to sports and recreation. Competitors went head to head in events such as sand castle building, 'blind navigator' runs, beach volleyball, beach football, and life buoy throwing.

During the final part of Navigator's Day, GMU students and staff talked about the day's event during at a barbecue on the patio at the Faculty of Navigation. There was also the presentation of awards to the winners of the sports contests and words of thanks for the organisers.

The event's organisers, students, and staff at the Faculty of Navigation would like to thank all those who attended and contributed to the success of the first-ever Navigator's Day.
