GMU Authorities Attend the Study in Poland Conference

The annual conference “Foreign Students in Poland 2025” on the internationalisation of Polish universities took place on 30-31 January 2025. On the first day, the participants discussed new challenges in the internationalisation process. The conference was attended by the GMU Deputy Rector for Science, Dr Dariusz Barbucha; the Deputy Rector for Student Affairs and Education, Dr Sambor Guze; and the Deputy Rector for Internationalisation, Cooperation, and Development, Professor Tomasz Tarasiuk.

This year’s conference took place at the University of Gdańsk and was attended by representatives of approximately 60 higher education institutions. In 2025, the programme on the complex process of promoting Polish higher education abroad and opening it to international students known as “Study in Poland” is in its 20th year.

The topics on the agenda of this year’s conference were focused on the main challenges facing the internationalisation of higher education in Poland in the years 2025-2028; the internationalisation of scientific research in the light of European developmental priorities; the strategy for the internationalisation of higher education in Poland: cooperation, synergy, and directions of growth; as well as keeping in touch with international graduates as an important part of internationalisation. The meeting concluded with a discussion devoted to the challenges of the internationalisation of higher education in Poland. The event saw the attendance of approximately 300 participants: rectors, deputy rectors, directors and staff of foreign relations, education and development teams at Polish higher education institutions.

The conference was organised by the Conference of Rectors of Academic Schools (KRASP); Perspektywy Education Foundation; University of Gdańsk.

The conference was held under the honorary patronage of the Minister of Science and Higher Education and the patronage of the Marshall of Pomerania.
