GMU Department of Transport and Academic Community Support Final of School Initiative
The academic community at Gdynia Maritime University has taken part in the final of a programme organised for schools by the local government entitled ‘Jak szkoła to dwa koła’ [To school on two wheels]. As part of the event, more than 300 pupils took part in a quiz organised by GMU’s Department of Transport.
On 19 November 2025, the final of the campaign ‘Jak szkoła to dwa koła’, organised by the Gdynia City Hall as part of the EU ‘SUMP for BSR’ Interreg project took place. The initiative aimed at secondary school pupils looked to encourage young people to use bikes on their daily commute, in particular to school.
The final was held at the Polsat Plus Arena in Gdynia. It included a quiz on bicycle transport, created by Oskar Gacha, Agnieszka Jankowska and Dr Adam Przybyłowski, staff from the GMU Department of Transport. The quiz ended with a request to assess the impact of the campaign on the perception of bikes by secondary school pupils. Responsible for the technical management of the quiz was Oskar Gacha, whereas Dr Adam Przybyłowski led the quiz on stage. After the winners had been selected, Dr Przybyłowski, together with the students Julia Monkiewicz and Szymon Jabłoński, presented the prizes funded by HM The Rector of GMU, Professor Adam Weintrit.
More than 300 pupils took part in the quiz, which was carried out within the framework of a cooperation agreement in relation to urban mobility, transport, and logistics between Gdynia Maritime University and Gdynia City Hall. Representing our University were students from the ISTL, TransLog and HMI student scientific societies.
We are glad to have been given the opportunity to be part of an event promoting a healthy lifestyle, safety, and ecological modes of transport, supporting actions towards sustainable mobility in Gdynia.
We thank our entire community for its involvement in the initiative.
