GMU Expert Takes Part in Nato Working Group Meeting on Maritime Safety

On 30 May 2025, GMU Associate Professor Dr Magdalena Bogalecka took part in a meeting of the Maritime Situational Awareness Working Group organised by the Maritime Security Centre of Excellence – MARSEC COE, Istanbul, Turkey. During the meeting, Dr Bogalecka presented a paper entitled “Collision and Contact – Analysis of Accidents at Sea”, which was the main item on the meeting’s agenda. The expert discussed the most recent statistics on accidents at sea, indicating key environmental and technical determinants and proposed recommendations aimed at improving safety in shipping. The meeting gave participants the chance to discuss the most important safety challenges, and the presented paper provided a point of reference for planned actions in the prevention of marine accidents.
