GMU Technology Transfer Office Reps Attend 'Science4Business – Nauka dla biznesu' Inauguration Conference

At the headquarters of the Ministry of Development and Technology in Warsaw, the Minister of Science and Higher Education, Marcin Kulasek, together with Deputy Ministers of Science, Professor Marek Gzik and Professor Maria Mrówczyńska, officially launched the 'Science4Business – Nauka dla biznesu' project during a ceremonial conference. The initiative is co-financed with European funds under Measure 2.5 of the European Funds for a Modern Economy Programme for the years 2021–2027. Taking part in the event from Gdynia Maritime University was Dr Magdalena Kukowska-Kaszuba, Director of the Technology Transfer Office.

'Science4Business – Nauka dla biznesu' is a partnership project led by the Ministry for Science and Higher Education. The project involves the implementation of three tasks, each carried out within a different partnership:

Task 1: 'Development Incubator' – the partners are research organisations from all over Poland, including higher education centres, research institutes, and university special purpose companies. Gdynia Maritime University will lead a five-member consortium also consisting of: Warmia and Mazury University in Olsztyn, Kazimierz Wielki University in Bydgoszcz, the Institute of Horticulture – National Research Institute, and the security Technology Institute MORATEX.

Task 2: 'Technology Transfer Staff' – the role of partners is fulfilled by the National Research and Development Centre.

Task 3: 'Innovation Portal' – the partner and implementer will be the Data Processing Centre – National Research Institute.

The aim of the Science4Business – Nauka dla biznesu project is to increase the effectiveness of Technology Transfer Centres and Special Purpose Vehicles operating within research organisations in their collaboration with business, including through the commercialisation of the results of scientific research and development work. This goal will be achieved by developing and strengthening the research and innovation capacities of research organisations, as well as by applying breakthrough technological solutions developed within these institutions to the economy. 

GMU Technology Transfer Office In connection with task 1, 'Development Incubator', GMU will lead the following initiatives:

a. Mapping the potential of research organisations
b. Marketing technological and research offerings
c. Industrial research and experimental development work with commercialisation potential – pre-implementation activities
d. Access to knowledge and development of tools for teams involved in technology transfer

In addition, it will enhance cooperation with the business environment, support the commercialisation of research results, and foster the development of innovation brokers' competencies.
