HM The Rector Leads Discussion Panel During Sitting of Polish Academy of Sciences Transport Committee
HM The Rector of Gdynia Maritime University, Professor Adam Weintrit, led a discussion panel entitled 'Safety and Risks in the Age Artificial Intelligence' during a sitting of the Polish Academy of Sciences Transport Committee. The two-day sitting involving experts from around the country was held at the Faculty of Navigation of Warsaw University of Technology.
From 20 to 21 November 2025, HM The Rector of Gdynia Maritime University, Professor Adam Weintrit, took part in a sitting of the Transport Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences. This was combined with the Forum of Deans of Faculties offering degree programmes in Transport. During the event, HM The Rector, a Committee member and Head of the Water Transport Section, led a discussion panel on the topic of 'Safety and Risks in the Age of Artificial Intelligence'.
The two-day meeting attended by experts from around Poland took place at Warsaw University of Technology's Faculty of Transport. Plenary proceedings during the meeting were dedicated to topics including the evaluation of scientific disciplines and education in Transport. As part of the meeting, in addition to a panel dedicated to safety and risks in the age of artificial intelligence, discussion panels were also held on issues related to public procurement law in the context of research funding. There was also a panel on key infrastructure projects that serve as a stimulus for the development of the science–technology–business ecosystem. A further topic of discussion was transport, education cooperation between education and the social and economic environment.
The Transport Committee is engaged in promoting scientific knowledge and preparing expert analyses essential for conducting an informed public debate in the field of transport. It also performs advisory functions. The Committee's members are specialists from the academic transport community. The Committee's activity and initiatives create a space for intellectual exchange and the development of relations between experts. The Committee serves as the national representative body for the transport sub-discipline within the discipline of Civil Engineering, Geodesy and Transport.
