IMO Symposium in Connection with International Women in Maritime Day

On Friday, 18 May 2025, the maritime community around the world will come together to celebrate International Women in Maritime Day.

In connection with the occasion, on 16 May, the International Maritime Organization (IMO) in London is organising a Symposium under the theme “An Ocean of Opportunities for Women”.

The event will be opened by the IMO Secretary-General Arsenio Dominguez and will include the presentation of the results of the IMO-WISTA Women in Maritime Survey 2024, the IMO Gender Equality Awards Ceremony, and discussion panels involving representatives of maritime institutions and companies and maritime academia.

The topics of the panels are:

  • Ocean Conservation: Young People and Why Change Matters
  • Navigating Challenges and Seizing Opportunities

 

The Symposium will take place on Friday, 16 May 2025, from 14:30 to 17:30 at the headquarters of the IMO Headquarters in London, but will also be broadcast online via the IMOHQ YouTube Channel.
