International Day For Women in Maritime

Dear Ladies!

On 18 May 2025, the maritime community celebrates International Day for Women in Maritime, established in 2021 by the International Maritime Organization (IMO).

On this exceptional occasion, I wish all female staff and students at Gdynia Maritime University a great deal of success in your work or studies, and all the best in your personal lives.

International Day for Women in Maritime serves to highlight the contribution of women to the maritime sector. The holiday is also a chance to reflect, discuss, and ultimately take further action to encourage the professional and academic involvement of women in the maritime sector. Gdynia Maritime University, whose experts are engaged in the work of International Maritime Organization (IMO) bodies, initiates activities and supports all those that aim to increase the involvement and improve the position of women in maritime. Currently, women account for 33% of Gdynia Maritime University students, studying across 40 different degree programmes.
