Representatives of National Defence College of Nigeria Visit GMU

On May 23 2025, a meeting took place at Gdynia Maritime University between members of the University’s authorities and representatives of the National Defence College of Nigeria (NDC) aimed at discussing potential academic collaboration. Leading a team of representatives from GMU was Dr Dariusz Barbucha, Deputy Rector for Science. The large Nigerian delegation was headed by Air Commander Ayodele Keshinro Famuyiwa, Air Vice Marshall Dauda Garba Prayero and Commander Tahir Stanley. The meeting was also attended by Maciej Klósak, representing the Polish Investment and Trade Agency and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Other GMU representatives taking part were Dr Sambor Guze, Deputy Rector for Education and Student Affairs; Dr Captain Henryk Sniegocki, Associate Professor in the Department of Ships Operations at the Faculty of Navigation; as well as members of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering authorities: Dr Adam Muc, Deputy Rector for Education and Organisation of Study Programmes; Andrzej Piłat, Deputy Rector for Maritime and Student Affairs; as well as staff from the Department of Ship Electric Power: Dr Bolesław Dudojć, Deputy Department Head; and Dr Romuald Maśnicki.

During the visit, presentations were given by both universities in relation to their activity in education and science. Discussions also touched on the University’s experience to date in collaboration with African higher education institutions. The delegation from the National Defence College of Nigeria (NDC) was also given tours of the laboratories in the Faculty of Electrical Engineering.
