Announcement on the Electronic Student ID Card (ELS)
Dear Students,
Due to the late publication of the amendment to the Regulation of the Minister of Science and Higher Education on Studies regarding student ID cards, the card blank used for the personalisation (issue) of the Electronic Student ID Card (ELS) has been modified.
As a consequence, most higher education institutions in Poland, including Gdynia Maritime University, will be unable to issue the ELS to students at the beginning of the academic year. Cards will be issued once the new blanks are delivered and personalised. This will be no earlier than late October.
We apologise for any inconvenience. The delay is due to circumstances beyond the University's control.
Bachelor’s (first-cycle) graduates
ELS cards issued to bachelor’s graduates remain valid until 31 October 2026. Due to the amendment to the regulation, extending their validity for second-cycle studies will not be possible.
Every student beginning a master’s programme (second-cycle) who wishes to receive an ELS must submit an application to the Student Services Office.
Continuing students
All students continuing their education who hold an ELS may continue to use it, and the validity of the card will be extended under the existing rules at the relevant Student Services Office.
mLegitymacja
All students with a PESEL number are encouraged to activate the mLegitymacja. For newly admitted students, this will be available from 1 October 2026 upon logging in to USOSweb (under the mLegitymacja tab).
