Dar Młodzieży Sets Sail for Antwerp
On 2 March 2026 at 11:00, GMU's tall ship, the Dar Młodzieży, set sail from the Pomeranina Quay in Gdynia on a voyage carrying a group of students from maritime secondary schools in Gdańsk, Szczecin, and Kędzierzyn-Koźle. On the next stage of the voyage, the students will be replaced by a group of students from the Belgian Maritime Academy.
132 trainees, their two supervisors, and the ship’s crew were seen off by HM The Rector of Gdynia Maritime University, Professor Adam Weintrit, and the Director of the Maritime Operations Department, Captain Dariusz Jellonnek.
The ‘white frigate’ is scheduled to reach Antwerp on 12 March, where the pupils will be replaced by a group of 130 Belgian students, who will undertake an approximately one-month sea-going training placement on board.
The Dar Młodzieży is due to return to the port of Gdynia on 10 April. At that time, 46 students from the Faculty of Marine Engineering at Gdynia Maritime University, accompanied by a training supervisor, will embark together with 56 pupils from Świnoujście and two supervisors. The sailing ship will then depart on 16 April for Douglas on the Isle of Man (Irish Sea), continuing on to Cádiz (Spain), where on 8 May the students and pupils will complete their training.
