From 21 to 23 October 2026, E(x)plory Week took place – an event promoting young scientific talent, innovative ideas, and the development of science. Gdynia Maritime University was a partner of the event, having supported young science enthusiasts and valued their commitment to the delivery of ambitious research projects for many years.

During the official gala, the Special Award of the Rector of Gdynia Maritime University was presented for the project ‘Chicken McNugget problem for four consecutive squares’ by Kazimierz Chomicz, which addresses the solution to an important mathematical problem of determining Frobenius numbers. The distinction was presented by the Deputy Rector for Science at Gdynia Maritime University, Dr Dariusz Barbucha, who highlighted both the maturity of the awarded project and the University’s long-standing commitment to promoting creativity, innovation, and the scientific achievements of the younger generation.

The official gala of the E(x)plory competition was also an occasion to honour Gdynia Maritime University staff members who have been involved in the work of the competition jury for many years with the ‘Meritorious for Polish Science Sapientia et Veritas’ medals: Dr Damian Bisewski, a staff member of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, as well as Dr Bronisław Sulkowski, a staff member at the Faculty of Computer Science.

The presence of Gdynia Maritime University representatives at this year’s edition of E(x)plory Week underscores the importance of cooperation between the academic community and young talent, as well as the University’s role in inspiring successive generations to explore the world of science and technology.

Warm congratulations to all award winners.
