GMU Academic Choir Performs Concert for International Women’s Day

On International Women’s Day, 8 March 2026, a concert took place at the Tadeusz Meissner Auditorium at Gdynia Maritime University. Entitled ‘Something Beautiful’, the concert was open to all, and attracted both representatives od the academic community as well as visitors not connected with the University. 

The concert was opened by HM The Rector, Professor Adam Weintrit, who expressed warm wishes to all women present on the occasion of Women’s Day, while also thanking the audience for attending and choosing to celebrate the day at Gdynia Maritime University.

During the concert, the GMU Academic Choir performed a repertoire of varied music. The concert’s repertoire included such highlights as music from the film ‘The Lion King’ (Circle of Life), ‘The Greatest Showman’ (Never Enough), Two Hearts (Dwa Serduszka), The Wedding (Wesele), Night Graffiti (Nocne Grafitti), folk music from Romania and Spain and Sacred music by Ola Gjeilo and Anton Bruckner. 

The performance was met with tremendous enthusiasm from the audience, who rewarded the artists with prolonged applause after calling them back for two encores.
