Dr Tomasz Studzieniecki from the Department of Marketing and Quantitative Methods represented Gdynia Maritime University at the international conference 'Revising the European Security Architecture.' The event took place from May 21–22, 2026, at the Kaunas University of Technology as part of the COST PEACE project.

The conference focused on the challenges of constructing a new European security architecture in the face of a rapidly changing geopolitical landscape. Key debates centered on the future of European defense policy, contemporary military threats, drone deployment, state and societal resilience, and the fight against disinformation.

A unique asset of the conference was the participation of high-level decision-makers and practitioners, including representatives from ministries of defense, European Commission politicians, military personnel, security services, and civil defense organisations. A highlight of the event was the address by Lithuania's former Minister of National Defense, Dovilė Šakalienė, who outlined the critical challenges Europe currently faces regarding security and state resilience.

Throughout the discussions, Poland's positive role was repeatedly highlighted. Participants pointed to the country as a prime example of effective action in security, strengthening state resilience, and building capacity to respond to contemporary threats.

The conference concluded that European security today requires not only political and military decisions, but also broad cooperation across diverse sectors and institutions. Preventive measures, fostering social resilience, and preparing both states and citizens for various crisis scenarios are becoming increasingly vital.

The participation of the GMU representative in this prestigious event confirms the University’s active presence in the international debate on European security and contemporary geopolitical challenges.
