GMU Researchers Once Again Among the World’s Top 2% Most Influential Scientists
This year, researchers from Gdynia Maritime University have once again been included among the world's most highly cited scientists according to the World’s Top 2% Scientists 2026 ranking.
The World’s Top 2% Scientists ranking, which lists the most influential researchers worldwide, is prepared by researchers from Stanford University in cooperation with Elsevier BV and SciTech Strategies, Inc. It was compiled based on the scientific output of individual researchers recorded in the Scopus database.
In 2026, two rankings were published: the first takes into account the scientific achievements of researchers from the beginning of their careers until the end of 2025 (including both active researchers and those who have retired), and the second is based on scientific achievements in 2025 only.
The World’s Top 2% Scientists 2026 ranking for career-long achievements includes eight researchers from Gdynia Maritime University:
- Professor Jerzy Mizeraczyk, Faculty of Electrical Engineering,
- Dr Agnieszka Lazarowska, Associate Professor, Faculty of Computer Science,

- Professor Krzysztof Górecki, Faculty of Electrical Engineering,
- Professor Tomasz Tarasiuk, Faculty of Electrical Engineering,
- Professor Ryszard Strzelecki, Faculty of Electrical Engineering,
- Professor Piotr Gnaciński, Faculty of Electrical Engineering,
- Professor Krzysztof Kołowrocki, Faculty of Navigation (formerly of GMU).
The World’s Top 2% Scientists 2026 ranking based solely on scientific achievements in 2025 includes seven researchers from Gdynia Maritime University:
