GMU Takes Part in PowerConnect Trade Fair in Gdańsk
On 18-20 March 2026, GMU representatives took part in the PowerConnect Energy Trade Fair at the AmberExpo Exhibition and Congress Centre. PowerConnect is one of the most important industry events dedicated to modern technologies in the energy sector, the energy transition, and the development of the offshore sector.
The exhibition zone attracted particular interest from participants, with research institutions, technology start-ups and leaders of the energy market — including Gdynia Maritime University — showcasing their achievements. The GMU stand was a prominent feature of the trade fair, drawing numerous representatives of the maritime and energy industries. Visitors had an opportunity to explore the many research services offered by the University, GMU’s modern projects, solutions with strong implementation potential, as well as its extensive range of degrees and courses. The GMU stand also provided a space for direct meetings with business representatives, the exchange of experience, networking, and discussions on potential cooperation in research and development, the design of modern solutions for the energy sector, and the creation of science-industry consortia dedicated to the development of innovative solutions. In the exhibition zone, Karolina Kosior, a broker from the GMU Technology Transfer Office, encouraged trade fair participants to pursue cooperation between science and business.
An important item on the programme was the presentation entitled “The Sea of Tomorrow Begins Today – Our Technologies and R&D Cooperation”, delivered by Marlena Żur-Lewandowska, a broker from the GMU Technology Transfer Office, at the invitation of the Polish Investment and Trade Agency. The presentation focused on innovative solutions developed at the University and on the possibilities for their implementation in cooperation with industry, in line with the objectives of the “Science4Business – Nauka dla Biznesu project carried out at the University, which aims to increase the effectiveness of cooperation between the University and business and to commercialise R&D results. The activity is implemented under Task No. 1, “Development Incubator,” of the non-competitive project “Science4Business – Nauka dla Biznesu,” co-financed by the European Union under Measure 2.5 of the European Funds for a Modern Economy Programme 2021–2027.
The GMU Maritime Institute also presented its services at its own specially prepared stand.
The final day of the fair was dedicated to education and career development. As part of Education and Career Day, representatives of Gdynia Maritime University presented the University’s degree programmes and career development paths in areas related to the maritime economy and the energy sector, including the rapidly growing offshore industry.
GMU’s participation in the PowerConnect fair was an important element in strengthening ties between science and business and in promoting the University as an institution educating specialists who respond to the needs of a modern energy economy.
