Maritime Academic and Business Communities Integrate at 2nd Navigator’s Day
On 14 May 2026, the 2nd Navigator’s Day took place at the GMU Faculty of Navigation. The event attracted students, university staff, and representatives of maritime logistics and the offshore sector. The day's programme included a careers fair and sports and recreation competitions on Gdynia beach. The winners of the competitions were presented with rewards by HM The Rector of Gdynia Maritime University.
This year’s Navigator's Day was opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Navigation, Dr Tomasz Neumann.
During the careers fair, students had the opportunity to meet representatives of companies and institutions offering work placements, internships, and career development.
The represented companies were: Phoenocean Ltd., Döhle Marine Services Europe, Ligentia, Ocean Network Express, Langowski Logistics, WELCOME Airport Services, Maritime Division of the Border Guard, Northgate Logistics, Academy Maritime Services, PGE Baltica, Star Clippers, Stocznia Remontowa Nauta S.A. shipyard, GospodarkaMorska.pl, GMU Officer Training Centre, Loconi Intermodal and Polaris Maritime Services.
In the afternoon, participants moved to the beach in Gdynia, where sports and recreational competitions were held. Teams competed in a number of activities, including throwing a lifebuoy, beach volleyball, sandcastle building, tug of war, sumo wrestling and beach football.
The sporting competition was accompanied by a good atmosphere and plenty of excitement, and the event once again provided an opportunity for the academic community to integrate with representatives of the maritime industry. Navigator’s Day concluded with a social gathering for the participants.
The event was inspired by last year’s inauguration of Navigator’s Day, which attracted considerable interest from the academic community and business partners.
