19.02.2026 | 1 min. czytania

19 February 2026 was Polish Science Day – a national holiday established to commemorate the birthday of Nicolaus Copernicus, whose discoveries revolutionised the world of science. Polish Science Day is an opportunity to honour all researchers, academic teachers, inventors, and those involved in the development of science and higher education in Poland.

To mark the occasion, the Minister of Science and Higher Education, Marcin Kulasek, addressed a ceremonial letter to the academic and scientific community:

On the occasion of Polish Science Day, I would like to extend to you all my warmest wishes and my profound respect. Thank you for your achievements to date in research, as well as for your teaching and organisational work. I greatly appreciate your willingness to share your knowledge and experience.

In his letter, the Minister emphasised that science is one of the most enduring foundations of the development of the state and society – a source of civilisational progress, rational thinking, and the conscious shaping of the future. He expressed his gratitude for the achievements of Polish scholars and for their international cooperation, which continues to strengthen Poland’s position on the global scientific stage.

Minister Marcin Kulasek also highlighted the significant influence that researchers, academic staff, and inventors have on the country’s development policy, underlining the importance of dialogue between all parties:

I am convinced that dialogue and our continued partnership will enable us to develop solutions that make even better use of the potential of Polish science in shaping the country’s development policy.
