In the letter of appointment, the President of the Republic of Poland, Karol Nawrocki, noted:
New technologies and digitalisation have become one of the key dimensions of development in today’s world. Polish breakthrough technologies are not only a driver of economic growth and innovation, but also a real guarantee of the sovereignty, resilience and security of the Polish state, both economically and strategically. Domestic technological capabilities and secure digital infrastructure are now an indispensable element of independence.
I am convinced that the Council’s work will contribute to the development of far-sighted recommendations that will make it possible to effectively combine technological development with concern for the safety of citizens, data protection, the national interest, and the ethical dimension of digital progress.
The purpose of the newly established Council for New Technologies and Digitalisation is to create a forum for dialogue on matters important to Poland’s technological and economic development.
