The gathering is a key forum for dialogue and cooperation within the global hydrographic community. During the four days of proceedings, participants will review progress in hydrography and set new objectives for the next three years. The programme will also include the election of the organisation’s new leadership, including the Secretary-General and the Directors.

During the event, HM The Rector of GMU, Professor Adam Weintrit, is representing the University as an official observer of the International Association of Institutes of Navigation (IAIN).

The IHO is an organisation whose origins date back to 1921. Its structures are overseen by the IHO Secretariat, based in Monaco, and its leadership includes directors elected from among the representatives of member states. The organisation’s purpose is to coordinate and supervise the hydrographic activities of states, with particular emphasis on ensuring the safety of navigation and protecting the marine environment.
