Gdynia Maritime University's research vessel, IMOR, has completed a comprehensive shipyard refit at Pomerania Net Marine Shipyard in Szczecin. The work was completed on 15 May 2026 and included the renewal of the vessel's class certificates and flag-state safety certificate, required for its continued operation.

As part of the refit, a wide range of maintenance and modernisation work was carried out to ensure safe and reliable operation. During conservation and painting work, the above-water section received new colours visually aligned with the Gdynia Maritime University fleet as part of the vessel's rebranding. Full maintenance of the underwater hull was also carried out, including the application of a new anti-fouling coating system.

The scope of work included the overhaul of all bow and stern thrusters, a major overhaul of two generator sets, including diesel engines and generators, and the overhaul of lifting equipment, including the crane and gantry. Mooring and anchoring equipment was also overhauled, including the anchor winch, chain, and anchor. In addition, machinery fans, electric motors and thruster motors were modernised and maintained.

During the shipyard stay, inspections and maintenance work were also carried out on the fuel, ballast, sewage, and fresh water tanks. The vessel successfully passed tests by the classification society Polish Registry of Shipping (PRS) and the Maritime Authority Office in Szczecin, obtaining the required certificates and documents permitting the ship to continue seagoing operations.

On 20 May 2026, the IMOR returned to its home port in Gdańsk.
