Faculty Finds Success with Second "Journey into Science" Project
The Faculty of Management and Quality Science of the Gdynia Maritime University is currently carrying out a two-year project entitled "Rejs do nauki," [Journey into science] which is financed by the State budget as part of the Ministry of Education and Science's programme entitled "Social Responsibility for Science" and is part of the module "Popularisation of science and Promotion of Sport". The value of the grant is PLN 100,000 and the total value of the project - is PLN 111, 200.
Between November 2022 and April 2023, 17 staff members from the Faculty of Management and Quality Science gave 32 lectures for 240 secondary school pupils from 12 secondary schools from three voivodships - Pomerania, Warmia-Mazurskie and Kujawsko-Pomorskie. 16 of the lecturers were held remotely on MS Teams. In 2023, the Faculty's staff visited 13 secondary schools in Gdynia, Gdansk, Sopot, Malbork, Rumia, Puck, Kościerzyna, Sierakowice, Przodkowo, Tuchola and Somonin.
730 students from 27 secondary schools have taken part in the project to date, which has attracted interest from both teachers and secondary school pupils.
The promotion of the project was carried out by the Faculty's Promotions and Communications Commission with the support of the GMU Office for Promotion and Communications. Information on the project is provided on the Gdynia Maritime University, on Facebook, the Trojmiasto.pl website, as well as in the "Ratusz" newsletter published by Gdynia City Hall.
Enrolment is currently ongoing for the next edition of the project, which is set to begin in October 2023.
