Adapted Infrastructure

GMU has introduced solutions aimed at facilitating access to the University’s infrastructure for persons with disabilities. The map below shows the location of the lifts on the main campus and at the student residences based near the main campus on Morska Street (SDM3 and SDM4):

  • Height-adjustable table in the reading room
  • Height-adjustable table in the multimedia room
  • Scanner with OCR software converting scans into text: Plustek OpticBook A300 + ABBYY FineReader 12
  • Computer with text-to-speech software: NVDA
  • Webcam for a desktop computer: Natec
  • Electronic magnifier: Snow HD 12
  • Trackball mouse for people with mobility impairments: BIGtrack 2

  • Two pairs of active noise-cancelling (ANC) headphones for users who need quiet to work: EDIFIER W820NB
  • Bone-conduction headphones enabling audio playback while still hearing the surroundings: Vidonn E300
  • Lenovo laptop with headphones and specialist software
  • Software for creating screenshots, editing images and recording screen video to produce accessibility aids: Snagit

  • Computer workstation equipped with a webcam, headset with microphone, and speakers

Faculty of Electrical Engineering

  • Z∞MAX for people with visual impairments

Architectural Accessibility

  • 11 passenger lifts in 7 buildings (B, C; student residences SDM2, SDM3, SDM4; Sports and Recreation Centre (SRC), Centre for the Offshore Industry)
  • 3 stair platforms in 2 buildings (C, A)
  • 5 vertical platforms in 3 buildings (C, Faculty of Nav., SRC)
  • 2 stair climbers in 2 buildings (F, Faculty of Nav.)
  • 5 ramps
  • 3 evacuation chairs in 3 buildings (Faculty of Nav., SRC, F)

Accessible toilets are available in:

  • Building A (level 0)
  • Building B (B217)
  • Building C (C347, C213, C112, level 0 near C11)
  • as well as SRC and the Centre for the Offshore Industry
