Professor Janusz Mindykowski Awarded Commander's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta
On 7 May 2024, a ceremony was held at the Belveder Palace in Warsaw for the award of national distinctions for service to the country and society from the President of Poland, Andrzej Duda.
Professor Janusz Mindykowski - an internationally recognised specialist in the measurement and diagnostics of ship systems, especially research on the quality of electrical energy, was awarded the Commander's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta for outstanding service to the maritime economy, his achievements in science, education, and implementation, and the popularisation of Polish scientific thought throughout the world.
From 1996 to 2002 and 2012 to 2016, he served as the University's Deputy Rector for Science. During the years 1990-1993 and 2005-2012, he held the post of Dean in the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, and from 1993 to 1996, he was the Rector's plenipotentiary for scientific research. Professor Mindykowski has been the Chair of the University Disciplinary Committee since 2020. In 2013-2019, he coordinated the University's Angola II project, and in 2018, he was made an honorary doctor of Gheorghe Asachi Technical University of Iaşi, in Romania.
The awarded orders and distinctions were presented on behalf of the President by the Secretary of State in the Office of the President of the Republic of Poland. Also taking part in the ceremony were Chancellor of the Order of Polonia Restituta, Wiesław Johann, and a member of the Order's Chapter, Professor Maria Gintowt–Jankowicz.
