Memorial Roll Call

University Celebration Day ended with a Memorial Roll Call after sundown in front of the University's main building. By the light of torches, the University remembered those who left an indelible mark in its history and thanks to whom, we can be part of an academic community today and citizens of a free and independent country. With this solemn symbolic act, we remembered directors, lecturers, employees, students and graduates of the Tczew Maritime School and Gdynia Maritime University, who left for the eternal watch, having died in the field of glory, or at sea.

The ceremony began with the introduction of the University banner by the GMU Guard of Honour in the company of the Border Guard Unit's Maritime Orchestra. The Memorial Roll Call was read by Dr Marcin Frycz, Deputy Dean for Part-Time Studies and Promotion in the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, following a performance of the Polish National Anthem and the raising of the flag.

A poem by Polish poet Adam Asynk entitled "To The Young" was read by Dr Tomasz Hajduk.

The ceremony closed with the procession of the University banner by the GMU Guard of Honour, accompanied by the Border Guard Unit's Maritime Orchestra.
