33rd Grande Finale of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity

An open day on Dar Młodzieży, showings in the University’s planetarium, demonstration visits to the simulators of the Faculty of Navigation, red hearts, and tempting online auctions - these are just some of the attractions prepared by Gdynia Maritime University staff and students as part of the 33rd Final of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity (WOSP), on 26 January 2025.

Dar Młodzieży Open Day/Pomeranian Quay (opposite aquarium)/

On 26.01.2025, there will also be an opportunity to visit Dar Młodzieży – Gdynia Maritime University's sail training ship. The ship is moored at the Pomeranian Quay, opposite Gdynia Aquarium.

ON BOARD THE UNIVERSITY’S SHIP THERE WILL BE FIRST AID AND HEMORRHAGE WORKSHOPS

  • On the deck of Dar Młodzieży Workshops on CPR and first aid (BLS) will be held between 12:00 and 17:00.  Additionally, experts will conduct workshops on haemorrhage control, including how to stop bleeding and how to use specialist equipment.

FIRE SERVICE VEHICLES WILL BE ON SHOW NEAR THE SHIP ON THE QUAY

Grand Orchestra Auction at the Witold Gombrowicz City Theatre

Especially for the 33rd Finale, students of the Faculty of Marine Engineering, under the watchful eye of Dr Włodzimierz Kończewicz, have made an extraordinary, industrial, maritime lamp, which will be bid on during the Grand Orchestra Auction at the Witold Gombrowicz City Theatre.   

The base of the lamp consists of 3 admiralty anchors, entwined with a chain, connected by crossbars to a decorative lamp stem, on which a filament bulb has been fitted.

The lampshade is designed in the style of a square rig sail, typical for sailing ships. The material used is an original fragment from the S/V Dar Młodzieży - GMU’s world-famous tall ship.  It is crowned with three spheres symbolisng the tops of the three masts of the ship.

The lamp is powered by 230 V and is fitted with a switch.  

This unique item will be on auction at the Witold Gombrowicz City Theatre in Gdynia. The auction starts at 18:00.

Voyage of the S/V Dar Młodzieży during part of the Tall Ship Races 2025

Take part in the auction for an exceptional opportunity to be on board Dar Młodzieży for a chosen stage of the Tall Ships Races 2025. Up for grabs is the chance for two persons to take part in the regatta on one of the following routes:

A weekend in Gdynia  

For those who would like to spend the weekend in picturesque Gdynia, the University has arranged a weekend stay in one of the guest rooms at the ‘Little Sail’ student residence in Gdynia. A unique maritime-themed building located near the boulevard and main beach in Gdynia.  The stay is for two persons and includes breakfast. Go here to take part in the auction. 

A tour of Dar Młodzieży in the company of the ship’s captain 

Gdynia Maritime University has also prepared a unique attraction for the whole family or a small group of friends. Up for auction is a voucher entitling the bearer to a private tour of Dar Młodzieży in the company of the ship's captain. And that's not all! Go bowling with the team from the Dean’s Office at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering.

Would you like to go head to head in a bowling tournament against the staff from the Dean’s Office in the Faculty of Electrical Engineering? Play tennis with the Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering.

Take up a sporting challenge, whilst playing your part in the 33rd  Grand Finale of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity by playing a tennis match against the Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Piotr Jankowski.  The match will be played at the modern Sports and Recreation Centre at Gdynia Maritime University.  The auction can be accessed here.

Ceramic mugs, hand-painted by GMU staff and students at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering

If you want to have a unique hot chocolate, delicious coffee or the best tea ever, take part in the auction for ceramic mugs painted by staff and students at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at Gdynia Maritime University. The only opportunity to have a one-of-a-kind mug, in which every drink will taste great.
