Young Handball Players Compete at GMU Sports and Recreation Centre
Between 28 February and 2 March 2025, the round of sixteen of the Under-16s Junior Polish Handball Championships took place at the Gdynia Maritime University Sports and Recreation Centre. This was followed a week later, from 7 to 9 March 2025, by the quarterfinals of the Under-19s Junior Polish Handball Championships. The host of both tournaments was the team Port Service Wybrzeże I Gdańsk. The organisation of this important national tournament was entrusted to the GMU Sports and Recreation Centre - currently considered one of the most modern sports centres in Poland capable of hosting handball championships at the national level.
From 28 February to 2 March 2025, at the GMU Sports and Recreation Centre, the host team from Gdańsk competed against:
- MKS Grudziądz
- PGE KPR Gryfino
- MDK Bartoszyce.
Going through to the next round was the host team, Port Service Wybrzeże I Gdańsk.
A week later, another four teams competed in the under-19s competition:
- Gwardia I Opole
- UKS Olimpia Biała Podlaska
- MKS Pałac Młodzieży Tarnów.
The team Gwardia Opole, reached the quarterfinals.
Klub Port Service Wybrzeże I Gdańsk is one of the fastest growing institutions in the training of children and youth in handball. A place which scouts and develops the sporting talent of the youngest from Tricity schools and other centres from around the country.
