Baltic Sea Offshore Wind Summit Takes Place in Gdańsk

On 10 March 2025, the Baltic Sea Offshore Wind Summit, the first regional conference for the Baltic countries, took place at the European Solidarity Centre in Gdańsk. Taking part in the event from GMU were HM The Rector of GMU, Professor Adam Weintrit, and the Director of the GMU Maritime Institute Krzysztof Czaplewski.

The event brought together more than 200 international participants, including industry leaders, politicians, decision-makers, and renewable energy experts who participated in discussions across ten panels and programme presentations. The main topics of the Summit were:

  • Energy security and geopolitics, including the impact of global changes on the renewable energy sector, the security of maritime infrastructure, cybersecurity, and cross-border cooperation.
  • Investment and financing, where discussions focused on strategies to support new offshore projects and the role of financial institutions in accelerating the energy transition.
  • Supply chain and port infrastructure, addressing the effective development of ports and ensuring supply chain stability for the offshore wind energy sector.
  • Workforce and education - participants discussed the shortage of skilled labour and the role of education in building a modern renewable energy industry.
  • Innovation and new technologies, covering topics such as advancements in wind turbine technology, energy storage systems, and grid integration.

    The Summit took place under the honorary patronage of the Marshal of Pomerania Mieczysław Struk and with official support from the Polish Presidency in the EU Council.
