University Signs Agreement with Intel
On 16 April 2025, Gdynia Maritime University signed an agreement with leading CPU manufacturer Intel. The agreement was signed by HM The Rector of GMU, Professor Adam Weintrit and the Vice-President of Intel Polska Bartosz Cieplucha.
Also taking part in the event was past GMU Rector Dr Piotr Jędrzejowicz; Dr Dariusz Barbucha, Deputy Rector for Science; Dr Sambor Guze, Deputy Rector for Education and Student Affairs, Professor Tomasz Tarasiuk, Deputy Rector for Internationalisation, Cooperation and Development, GMU Chancellor Filip Malata, and the initiator of the agreement, Professor Irenueusz Czarnowski, Dean of the Faculty of Computer Science, together with his colleague from the Faculty Dr Agnieszka Lazarowska, Head of the Department of Automated Systems.
The parties have agreed to cooperate in the improvement of the education of students and academic teachers in the fields of computer science, electronics, and communications technology.
Among the potential areas of collaboration between the University and Intel, opportunities such as student internships, workshops, lectures, and study visits led by Intel experts were highlighted, along with joint research and development projects and events such as careers fairs and hackathons. The agreement also foresees other forms of cooperation, including the exchange or lending of equipment or computer programs.
The newly established cooperation is important not only within the context of the development of the Faculty of Computer Science, founded in 2004, but also for the education of future GMU students, who during the internships are often already looking for employment opportunities at international IT companies.
