Research Projects and Support
Gdynia Maritime University conducts scientific research, research and development work, general development activities, as well as projects with implementation potential. Funds for their implementation are obtained from the National Science Centre, the National Centre for Research and Development, the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, as well as EU institutions and more.
Competences related to supporting the application, implementation and financial reporting processes for projects have been assigned to four organisational units at Gdynia Maritime University:

- Technology Transfer Office
- Projects Service Centre
The Research Department supports the proper implementation of activities within projects concerning research co-financed from the University’s budget subsidy. It also supports research and development work financed under programmes and calls of the National Science Centre, the National Centre for Research and Development, programmes of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, other funding bodies, and regional programmes.
The Department of International Cooperation coordinates activities related to European projects financed or co-financed from international sources, including programmes such as Horizon 2020, Horizon Europe, the European Economic Area (EEA) and Norwegian Funds. It also works on international projects based on cooperation with international partners, including INTERREG Cooperation Programmes, the ERA-NET CO-FUND Programme, and projects financed under IAMU and the National Academic Exchange Agency (NAWA)).
The Technology Transfer Office (TTO) supports and coordinates activities connected with the initiation of cooperation with social and economic entities, including on behalf of projects for the development of unique solutions with implementation potential, financed or co-financed from internal resources. The TTO provides consultancy services on intellectual property, offering support in selecting protection strategies for solutions developed within projects, as well as guidance on rules concerning shared intellectual property rights. It cooperates with economic entities in the organisation of consultancy, expert, research, and analysis services carried out based on contractual agreements, including the assessment of innovative project solutions.
The Projects Service Centre supports projects conducted by the departments at the Maritime Institute.
