Students and Staff Attend an Inspiring Meeting at Faculty of Navigation

On 8 May 2025 at 18:00, the first in a series of meetings with extraordinary individuals took place in the auditorium at the Faculty of Navigation of GMU. Organised by the Sailing and Waters Sports Centre at Gdynia Maritime University under the name 'A Course Towards Inspiration", the event aims to give GMU students, staff and others the opportunity to hear from persons who, through their attitude, show that life doesn't have to follow conventional patterns, and for whom the overriding goal remains the pursuit of dreams and living life on their own terms.

The first guest welcomed to the University was Captain Konrad Szproncel, a professional sailor who put down anchor in the British Virgin Islands, where he runs charters and delivers yachts. He is also a keen hiker who has braved some of the highest peaks, a hitchhiker with his own campervan, and a sail-hitchhiker who travels with a paraglider in tow. Konrad is a person who relentlessly follows his own dreams, all the while uplifting others who share the same ambitions.

Taking part in the meeting were GMU students and staff, local residents, as well as members of Konrad's family.

In his presentation, Captain Konrad Szproncel told the audience about his current work, how to start their adventure with sail-hitchhiking and delivery of yachts, and the responsibilities of skippers. In addition to sharing his experiences, our extraordinary guest gave those present tips on how to plan and effectively realise their dreams.

Thank you, Konrad, for the chance to be inspired!
