Maciej Daniel Matczak

Maciej Daniel Matczak (PhD, DSc) is a professor at Gdynia Maritime University, recognized as an expert, manager, and analyst in seaport economics, management and development, shipping, logistics, international trade, and the global economy. 

His professional career began at the Port of Gdansk Authority, where he worked as a Development Specialist. He later joined Gdynia Maritime University, serving as Vice-Dean for Cooperation and Development and Deputy Head of the Department of Logistics and Transport Systems. Alongside his academic duties, he worked at Actia Forum in Gdynia, first as a Senior Consultant and subsequently as Head of the Consulting Department. In 2019, he was appointed Director of the Maritime Institute, a leading national research center specializing in environmental studies for the offshore wind energy sector. Since 2023, he has served as Director of Research and Development at the Polish Register of Shipping. With more than a decade of managerial experience, he has developed strong competencies in leading teams and organizations. 

Currently, he is dedicated to research and academic work as an associate professor. He has initiated, designed, and implemented numerous development and research projects while building a significant body of scientific achievements. He is the author of scientific publications, reports, and market analyses in the fields of transport, logistics, and energy. He also acts as an evaluator of national and European R&D projects, including TEN-T, CEF, and Horizon programs. 

His main scientific interests center on the evolution of competitive structures in transport markets. His current research explores sectoral policies and development processes, with a focus on digitalization, decarbonization, and energy transition in seaports and shipping. He also examines the economic and market interactions among stakeholders in the maritime sector, including seaports, shipping companies, shipyards, and the offshore wind energy industry. Additionally, he specializes in market forecasting, a discipline crucial for large-scale infrastructure investment projects.
