Conductor
Karol Hilla is a graduate of the Stanisław Moniuszko Academy of Music in Gdańsk, where he studied organ in the class of Professor Roman Perucki. From 2002 to 2004 he continued his education at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hamburg under Professor Wolfgang Zerer.
He has participated in numerous organ interpretation masterclasses led by distinguished artists and teachers such as Harald Vogel, Susanne Landale, Jon Laukvik, Marek Toporowski, among others.
Karol Hilla has performed in many cities in Poland and abroad (Germany, Russia, France). He has collaborated as a soloist and orchestral musician with the Polish Baltic Philharmonic and the Symphony Orchestra of the Academy of Music in Gdańsk, performing, among other works, the organ part in Gabriel Fauré’s Requiem conducted by Jerzy Maksymiuk. He has also appeared with the Szczecin-based ensemble Camerata Nova and with Cappella Gedanensis.
He won 2nd Prize at the National Organ Competition in Rumia and, in 2002, qualified to participate in the international organ competition ‘Grand Prix de Chartres’. For several years he served as organ presenter at the Oliwa Archcathedral.
Alongside his performance career, he is active as a teacher, having worked at music schools in Gdynia (levels I and II), the Academy of Music in Lodz, and in organ interpretation masterclasses.
