As one of the partners of the Pomeranian Researchers’ Night (Pomorska Noc Naukowców) project, Gdynia Maritime University has once again gained funding for the organisation of another Pomeranian Researchers’ Night.

The Research4Resilience project has been selected for funding under the MSCA & Citizens call of the Horizon Europe programme, enabling the event to be held in 2026 and 2027 as well.

Professor Tomasz Tarasiuk, GMU Deputy Rector for Internationalisation, Cooperation and Development, has once again been named as head of the project.

The University has been granted almost 34 thousand euros (145 thousand PLN) for the organisation of the next event. The funds will be allocated to the next two Pomeranian Researchers’ Nights – one of the largest events for the popularisation of science in the region. The combined funding amount for all partners in the Research4Resilience project as part of the call is 319 thousand Euro (1.4 million PLN).

Pomeranian Researchers’ Night is an event promoting science, held annually on the last Friday of September in many European countries as part of the European Researchers’ Nights. In Pomerania, the initiative is coordinated by the Medical University of Gdansk. Involved in its organisation are higher education centres and institutions from throughout the region. Among the partners are: the University of Gdańsk, Gdańsk University of Technology, Gdynia Maritime University, the Polish Naval Academy, the Institute of Oceanology of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Sopot, the Experyment Science Centre, and the National Marine Fisheries Research Institute, including the Gdynia Aquarium.

The first Pomeranian Researcher’s Night in the Tricity took place in 2023, attracting nearly 7 thousand participants. The event offered dozens of workshops, demonstrations, and lectures prepared by more than 100 researchers and science advocates.

Further events were held in 2024 and 2025, and confirmed the notable interest of Pomeranian residents in science and the potential for face to face meetings with researchers.

This year’s Pomeranian Researchers’ Night is scheduled to be held on 25 September.
