Third Autonomous Transport Conference Coming to Faculty of Navigation

On 21 and 22 September 2026, the Conference on Autonomous Transport will be held at the GMU Faculty of Navigation.

The conference is a recurring event devoted to research and technological issues relating to autonomous means of transport, transport safety, transport systems and their monitoring, advanced technologies in autonomous and remotely controlled systems, and legal aspects of autonomous maritime transport. It serves as a forum for the exchange of views, research findings, and implementations of new technologies in the wider field of autonomous transport, and covers issues related to:

  • the use of autonomous, remotely operated, and unmanned ground vehicles in maritime and land operations, including rescue operations,
  • reducing hybrid threats,
  • the security and protection of critical infrastructure,
  • enhancing underwater surveillance and water monitoring capabilities,
  • the human factor in maritime operations in ensuring safety,
  • environment perception, navigation, and control of autonomous vehicles, including localisation and mapping (SLAM),
  • systems and software for autonomous vehicles,
  • intelligent navigation systems,
  • legal aspects of autonomous maritime transport.

Plenary session speakers will include:

  • Konrad Marciniak, Judge at the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea (ITLOS) in Hamburg
  • Prof. Frank Stevens, Erasmus University Rotterdam, Erasmus School of Law, Rotterdam Institute of Shipping and Transport Law (RISTL), and Chair of an international working group on MASS within a non-governmental international maritime law organisation

Academic paper abstracts in English should be sent to: auttrans@umg.edu.pl by 10 September 2026.

Following peer review, papers will be published in a monograph by Taylor&Francis, a level II publisher.
