On 14 April 2026, the Green Fuels Supply Seminar was held at Gdynia Maritime University. The event was organised as part of the DeCoInter project (Decarbonization of the Maritime Sector and Its Impact on Green Energy Transition) and received financing under the Interreg South Baltic Programme 2021-2027, an EU-funded initiative for cross-border cooperation.

The DeCoInter project aims to support the region's ports in the implementation of the green energy transformation in the maritime and transport sectors. The seminar was an important part of the project activities carried out within the work package dedicated to environmentally friendly alternative fuels.

The event was opened by the Rector of Gdynia Maritime University, Professor Adam Weintrit, and an introduction to the project and details of the aims of the seminar were provided by GMU Associate Professor Dr Maciej Matczak.

The seminar aimed to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and experience relating to the implementation of green fuels in maritime shipping, to analyse possible scenarios and supply-chain models, and to identify the regional conditions, opportunities and synergies relevant to the effective introduction of sustainable transport solutions in the South Baltic area. The event also provided an opportunity to present good practices and modern solutions with regard to the transport, handling, and storage of alternative fuels.

Taking part in the event were the representatives of various groups, including fuel manufacturers and suppliers of technologies used in dedicated supply chains, groups responsible for regional development, and maritime ports and terminals. An important part of the seminar was expert talks and discussion sessions, which enabled participants to exchange opinions on potential scenarios for the future implementation of green fuels within the blue economy.
