Coming Soon: Africa Day
On 2 June 2026, Gdynia Maritime University will host Africa Day – an event organised by Gdynia Maritime University and the Lech Wałęsa Institute Foundation under the honorary patronage of His Magnificence the Rector, Professor Adam Weintrit. The event will be held in the T.Meissner Auditorium on the University’s main campus.
Centred around international cooperation, culture, and the role of African countries in the global economy and transport sectors, Africa Day will officially open with a welcoming address by Rector Professor Adam Weintrit. His opening remarks will emphasise the growing importance of academic and economic partnerships between Europe and Africa.
A key highlight of the programme is the panel debate, ‘The Role of Africa in Global Supply Chains and International Transport.’ Moderated by Krzysztof Buzalski, Polish Ambassador to Tanzania in the years 2017-2024, the discussion will feature insights from:
- H.E. the Ambassador of Angola
- H.E. the Ambassador of Senegal
- H.E. the Ambassador of Algeria
- A senior representative from the Embassy of Nigeria
Together, the panelists will explore new horizons for economic, trade, and educational cooperation between the two continents.
To conclude the event, participants will have the opportunity to visit the cutting-edge simulators at the Faculty of Navigation and tour the Gdynia Maritime University campus.
