On 20 June 2026, representatives from Gdynia Maritime University attended the traditional Mass for the People of the Sea, held at the Church of Our Lady of Perpetual Help and St Peter the Fisherman as part of the Celebrations during Gdynia’s Sea Days.

The University delegation was led by the Rector of Gdynia Maritime University, Professor Adam Weintrit; the Deputy Rector for Education and Student Affairs, Associate Professor Dr Sambor Guze; the Deputy Rector for Internationalisation, Cooperation and Development, Professor Tomasz Tarasiuk; and the Chancellor, Filip Malata, who were joined by numerous GMU staff members. The service brought together members of the maritime community, state and local government officials, as well as representatives from universities, institutions, and organisations associated with the maritime economy.

Following the Mass, attendees proceeded to the Monument to Polish Maritime Heritage on Kościuszko Square, where wreaths were laid to mark the beginning of Gdynia's Sea Days.

The presence of Gdynia Maritime University representatives at the ceremony served as a mark of respect for seafaring communities and the long-standing maritime traditions that have shaped the identity of the city of Gdynia and the Pomerania region for generations.
